Safari Bombs
July 28, 2007
It all started some weeks ago. I sat in front of two laptops; an apple 17 inch G4 and a Dell which paled in comparison. I was using a wireless link and was online using the Safari Browser and Internet boring Explorer on the Dell. Being an ardent Apple fan who followed its innovations and business I felt on top of the world. The dell machine had virus issues I was sorting out. It wasn’t long before I noticed that there was a slight latency on the Safari that I did not notice on the Dell machine. Well I didn’t take that seriously since Apple claimed its Safari was the fastest browser.Leaving that office for home I downloaded the Safari for windows and took it with me home with plans of installing it and using it at my office.Being a web developer I am a fan of web browsers because I have to see how my work comes out in different browsers and on my windows machine at my office, where I have Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Opera Installed it wasn’t long before I noticed that the Safari was the slowest!Even offline making use of my...

Next Generation Gaming Consoles
June 22, 2007
The latest generation of Consoles unleashed on the general public by Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft has mostly been an evolution from the previous generation. Thus it has been all about faster processors, better graphics, and a lot of really hard core complex stuff (especially hardware wise)The only company that seems to be thinking outside the box is Nintendo. Nintendo’s Wii comes with an innovative controller that responds to hand movements. Thus you can play a tennis game with similar strokes of a tennis player, conduct an orchestra or do only God knows much more. This innovative introduction might just be on the verge of changing the face of gaming forever. If you have been involved in console gaming you will know that there is a huge world of difference between the players and the members of their families or friends and relatives who do not play. The non-players just don’t get it.I think that the innovative controller might be what will make non-players to finally want to get it. It is going to be a lot easier for them to want to try life-like hand movements than button contortions like the game players have become so used to....

Think Differently?
January 9, 2007
For years Apple Computerscampaigned about the superiority of its computers to those running the windows operating system and the intel processors. Well you can imagine my shock when I heard the announcements that Apple was moving to start using Intel processors in its computers ast year!!!
Was I shocked?!?! Well it had been reported that Apple made the move because of IBM's not be ready to manufature a low power consumption G5 processor for it laptops in the kind of time frame that Apple was looking at.
Now when I look back over the move from the G4 to the Intel processors I wonder: Might it be just possible that the company that preached the gospel of thinking different always wanted to belong?
We'll you are asking what do I mean? I'll explian. The truth is that as at the time of the move only Apple and AMD had 64bit desktop processors for computers, offcourse Apple and AMD had preached about the advantages of the 64 bit processor for the desktop computing user, so if really Apple needed to make the move to another processor so as to solve the problem of IBM's slowness well it makes sense that they...

Whats a Smart Phone?
January 9, 2007
You know sometimes I cant help but wonder how we came about the genre of phones called smart phones. What exactly makes a smart phone? The fact that you can read a few documents on it ? Or the fact that it runs on Microsoft Operating system or the Symbian Operating system? Or 'cos it can be installed with applications? Or because it really costs an awful lot? The truth is that the phones we call smart are not so smart after all. How can a phone be smart if I cant carry out a lot of cool stuff on it. For example why cant I set my text messages to be sent at a particular time. Funny enough I stumbled upon a phone that can do this the other day and believe me it was not a phone classified as a smart phone infact it is a cheap regular phone.
Some of these phones cant even remember where you stopped the last time you were using them when you close
them!!! Or maybe e-mail is what makes them smart, or blue tooth? Offcourse most phones in the above average group can do all of these and more.
You know I have had this joke for a while : If we call a phone a smart phone 'cos it runs on MIcrosoft Operating system
what will we call a phone that runs on the Apple OS: A cool phone. Well it looks like while I was still thinking about this post Apple decidedto answer the question. It will be...

The Sea Monkey Drowns
December 30, 2006
Iam so sure the title of this post will turn a few haeds around. What is he talking about? What am I talking about? Well if you are like me you are always trying out new softwares (especially if they are free) to see how they work and how they can enrich your experience on the computer and the internet. The most popular softwares for this kind of play around with softwares is probably web browsers. I stumbled upon the Sea Monkey the other day and quickly downloaded it onlyto be so dissapointed in its representation of my pages. In case you are still wondering what the Sea Monkey is well it is Mozilla Foundation( The guys behing Firefox) all in one internet solution, web browser, email client, development suite, with even support for palm devices. It sounds cool . well why dont you just download it and try it out at:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/start/
For me though it was a dissapointing experience, thus the sinking of the sea monkry. It looks like a lot of work still
need to be done with the Sea Monkey before it will be ready for show time.

Getting Into Bloggin'
December 6, 2006
How do you get into bloggin'? Well that is the question that I may be answering right now. Interestingly this year makes 10 years exactly sice I made a conscious effort to get into computers.
The interesting thing is that like everyone else I have been carried away by all the different fads but not bloggin'.
I started to consider bloggin' a few days ago and woke up this morning considering getting on to blogspot. So I picked up one of my mags that talked about blogspot bloggin, then I dicovered that I could host it myself and I thought that would be really nice , I would host it on freeservers where I had this account only to log in later in the day and find out that free servers had started a blogging service with their hosting service.
Sometimes you cant help but wonder if somethings are just a little more than coincidence.
Since Iam now blogging what will I be talking about? Well I think I'll play it by the ear here but it will mostly be about the computer industry.
Over the years my favourite companies in the industry are Apple, and AMD, Iam always...
